Patrick Casilio is the definition of a community leader and role model for the Town of Clarence.  A lifelong Clarence resident, his passion and active dedication to the town he grew up in has created a legacy to be commemorated.

As the oldest of five children, Pat’s leadership and philanthropic values began at an early age, and were instilled by his late father, Pat Casilio Senior.  At the age of 19, he joined the Clarence Volunteer Fire Company, and served as Assistant Chief and Chief for several years. Today, over 35 years later, he remains an active volunteer.

On October 20th, 1990, Pat displayed an immensely selfless act of bravery.  After receiving a call stating that two police officers were shot and wounded during an altercation with an armed assailant, Pat raced to the scene. Parking his car between the gunman – still armed and dangerous – and one of the wounded officers, Pat, along with fellow fireman, Jerry Roy, exited his car to assist the wounded officers, which resulted in saving one man’s life.

Pat received numerous awards for his service, including Fireman of the Year from the Clarence Fire Company, a Public Service Medal from the NYS Bar Association, and Citizen of the Year as well as Lifetime Achievement from the Clarence Chamber.

Pat served as an usher at Our Lady of Peace Church in Clarence, where he was also a past Treasurer of their Holy Names Society.  He was a coach for the Clarence Girls Softball League for several years, served as President on the Clarence Sports Park Association, and was on the leadership committee that oversaw the construction of the Harris Hill Elementary School playground. Hand-built by this committee, the Harris Hill Elementary School playground still stands today, over 20 years later.

Pat has been a member of the Clarence Rotary Club for over 25 years, where he has served as President, and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Clarence Rotary Foundation.  He also sits on the Board of Directors for the Brother’s of Mercy Foundation, ECMC Lifetime Foundation, and is an active member of the Erie County Sheriff’s Reserve.

He was elected Clarence Town Councilman in 2005.  He was in office for nearly ten years, during which time he was appointed Deputy Supervisor, and oversaw several programs to help improve the safety of our town, including spearheading the creation of the Public Safety Department.

In addition to all of his accomplishments, Pat serves as Chief Executive Officer at Casilio Companies, a group of real estate and construction companies, founded in 1965 by his late father, Pat Casilio Sr. He resides in the Harris Hill area with his wife of over 30 years, Susan, and his pugs, Vinnie and Frank – a rescue dog from the Clarence Animal Shelter.  This home is also where he raised his three daughters, Catherine, Christine and Carolyn.
